Comprehensive Spine Specialist
Why “comprehensive” spine specialist, when so many other spine surgeons use the terms, “minimally invasive” or “complex” spine surgeons? I like the term comprehensive because it encompasses the breadth of surgical techniques required to achieve the ultimate goal: improving your mobility and quality of life with the least invasive approaches necessary to achieve that goal.

About Me
In 2016, I completed my residency in Neurological Surgery at the Lillian S. Wells Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Florida, becoming the first African-American to graduate from that program!
My comprehensive training in the variety of neurosurgical subspecialties while at the University of Florida prepared me for a vibrant and busy general neurosurgical practice at Brooke Army Medical Center where I eagerly sought advanced specialty training in the diagnosis and management of spine-related pathology, developing particular expertise in full-spectrum, comprehensive spine care and spine neurotrauma. I now proudly serve patients in the Greater Orlando, FL area as a comprehensive spine specialist with Orlando Neurosurgery!

Updates on my latest projects!
I have a lot of projects in the works that I’m very excited about.
1. The most consuming of all my projects is the completion of my first book, “Swimming Upstream” (a draft of my current cover design on the left). Writing this book has been a passion project and is very much a labor of ❤️. Part memoir, part self-help book, part active journal, the bulk of the manuscript was written in 2017 while I was deployed to Iraq.
Truthfully, Its completion has been quite elusive as family, patient care and outreach must take precedence. Despite it all, I’m planning for a tentative summer 2022 release date! But, yeah, I definitely need encouragement… and an editor!
2. Medical device design & development! I’m full of ideas on improving existing surgical technology and quite vested in creating novel spine technology. I am currently working with several entities to bring these “ideas” to fruition.
