Training & Background
Dr. Wilson is a board-certified neurosurgeon, dedicated comprehensive spine specialist, and US Army veteran. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2005, he pursued post-graduate research and mentorship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He completed his medical training at the James H. Quillen College of Medicine in East Tennessee, graduating with highest honors in 2010 and earning memberships in the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and Gold Humanism Honor Society.
Dr. Wilson completed his internship and residency in Neurosurgery at the Lillian S. Wells Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL, where he became the first African American graduate of that program in 2016. He received the Chuck Shank Award for Excellence in Neurosurgery and underwent additional training in minimally invasive and complex spine surgery.
Military Service
After completing his training at the University of Florida, Dr. Wilson served on active duty in the United States Army at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX. There, he became one of the most productive neurosurgeons in the history of the National Defense Health System and held the title of Director of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery. He also completed tours in Iraq and Germany in 2016 and 2017. Dr. Wilson was honorably discharged in 2021 and now proudly serves patients in the Greater Orlando area as a comprehensive spine specialist with Orlando Neurosurgery.
Personal Life
Dr. Wilson is a husband and father of four. He enjoys photography, fitness, medical device development, and real estate investing. Family is extremely important to him; he has a wonderful wife, Mary, and amazing children, Kohen, Noelle, Sebastian, and Graham. In his free time, Dr. Wilson is a foodie and gym enthusiast. When not in scrubs, you can find him spending time with family, working out, writing, traveling, or seeking the best culinary treats around.

I now proudly serve patients in the Greater Orlando, FL area as a comprehensive spine specialist with Orlando Neurosurgery!
Amanda B. Smith, APRN, MSN, FNP-C
The irreplaceable Ms. Amanda Smith, is a board certified nurse practitioner in family medicine. She received her Master’s of Science in Nursing from Tennessee State University. After graduating she spent a year working in interventional pain management before transitioning to work for the neurosurgery division of the Comprehensive Spine Center at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Her pain management experience allowed her to develop a well rounded holistic approach to better treat post operative pain in her neurosurgical patients. She began working with Dr. Wilson in 2018 while at Brooke Army Medical Center treating patients with severe traumatic brain and spine injuries. She is involved in the entire continuum of care of Dr. Wilson’s patients and you will see her in the office, operating room and hospital.
